Basilique Saint-Michel-des-Lions
The church owes its name to the two stone lions which guard its south steps. Its Limousin-style bell tower, its vast interior space and the relics of the main saints of the diocese make it a remarkable sanctuary. The current building was built over more than a century. Only the vaulted volumes date back to the original program. This has been largely enriched by additions and modifications: side chapels placed as lean-tos in the 1522th century between the buttresses, additional bay added on the west side in XNUMX, new flamboyant style bays and north portal. Inside, the party is bold, three parallel vessels of the same height, vaulted with ribs, are separated by very fine piers. You should also see the monumental reliquary altar housing the shrine of Saint Martial, the patron saint of the city.
