Musée des Distilleries Limougeaudes

With its XNUMXth century stills still in operation, the distillery in the center reveals some of its ancestral secrets!
At the heart of an artisanal distillery founded in 1789, the museum bears witness to the 48 distilleries that existed in Limoges in 1900.

For almost two centuries, Limoges was the city of distilleries. An important crossroads of trade, it received cognac, armagnac, rum, liqueur wines, cane sugar, fruits, plants and spices, essential for the manufacture of numerous specialties. Having a large quantity of oak trees to make barrels, pure and tasty water, and an expert and creative workforce, Limoges has seen a new activity develop and prosper, alongside porcelain. From 1780 to 1930, there were several dozen distilleries in Limoges.
