A bit of history
Vieux Boisseuil developed at the crossroads of two major roads. The first connected St. Leonard au Solignac Broken Bridge and later became one of the routes to Santiago de Compostela, before moving south for unknown reasons. The second was a Roman road coming from the Mas Gauthier, crossing the village of Old Boisseuil and passing close to the current cultural center (Gascour hiking trail).
La RN20, an old royal road, welcomed the passage of stagecoaches. A post house was located on the town square, as shown on an old postcard.
Boisseuil then served as campaign to the bourgeois of Limoges, who spent their weekends there and sometimes sent their children to religious schools. A strong bond existed between the Limoges Cathedral and Saint Benedict Church de Boisseuil. In the 19th century, some bourgeois chose to settle there permanently.
