As we don't want to get involved in the famous debate that always ends with "in any case, it's always me who paddles", we will simply give you our top spots for canoeing, kayaking and paddleboarding while enjoying the magnificent landscapes of Limoges and our Limousin.

Embark on a storytelling canoe trip on the Vienne River, "Limoges, Along the Water," in the heart of Limoges… Accompanied by a guide from the City of Art and History , let yourself drift along the water while discovering Limoges from an unexpected perspective, blending heritage, nature, and historical anecdotes. As night falls, you can admire the cathedral and medieval bridges in a magical atmosphere of water and light. A magical experience to enjoy with friends, family, or on your own, every Thursday and Friday at 20:30 pm in July and August . Be warned, you might just fall in love with Limoges at sunset…

Want to navigate freely? Good news: the Limoges nautical base is open from July 6 to August 28, 2026 , from Monday to Friday , offering canoe and kayak trips down to Palais-sur-Vienne.

- From Monday to Friday: one descent per day. (No descent on July 13th and 14th)
- Departure: 15 a.m.
- Meet at the water sports center: 14:30 PM
Recommended arrival time
- Non-registered participants: arrive 30 minutes early, at 14:30 PM
- Registered participants: arrive 15 minutes early, at 14:45 PM

- A minibus will take you to the starting point at Palais-sur-Vienne

Canoe and kayak trips and rentals
At the Sablière leisure center in Palais-Sur-Vienne
Just 10 minutes from Limoges, the Sablière leisure center in Palais-sur-Vienne offers canoe and kayak trips in July and August. Suitable for all levels, these activities are ideal for combining leisure, relaxation, and sport, whether you're alone, with a partner, or in a group. It's a chance to explore new landscapes, different from those we know so well in Limoges. Trips take place every Saturday from July 11th to August 29th, 2026 inclusive , with three departures per day : two in the morning at 10:00 and 11:00 , and one in the afternoon at 2:00 PM . Allow approximately 2 hours for an 8-kilometer trip , with two possible routes: from Saint-Priest-Taurion to Palais-sur-Vienne or from Palais-sur-Vienne to Limoges.

Rentals are available on site, including pedal boats, paddleboards, and much more.

At Lake Vassivière
And you, have you ever been to Lake Vassivière? We call it "Little Canada" around here, and frankly, it truly deserves its nickname with its beautiful scenery! With its 1000 hectares of water and 45 km of shoreline , it's a real playground for anglers, casual swimmers, and watersports enthusiasts. You'll find six supervised beaches , a treetop adventure park , and numerous hiking and mountain biking trails all around the lake.
Fancy getting away from it all? Rent a canoe (2, 3, or 4 seats), a kayak , or a paddleboard and explore the lake at your own pace. For an even more magical experience, treat yourself to a sunset paddle , a nature outing to observe the local flora and fauna, or even a whitewater rafting trip on the Maulde River! Don't worry: all these activities are supervised (unless you prefer to rent independently).
In any case, you'll have some spots to try out on your kayaks this summer! Or on your canoes... We don't really know anymore...
