For this edition, the France, Portugal, Japan and, for the first time, theSaudi Arabia will compete in a championship format that promises intensity, passion and great surprises. A true showcase of football of tomorrow, the tournament is also a wonderful popular celebration, driven by the fervor of the supporters and the warm welcome of the region.
Organized by the JS Lafarge Limoges, with the support of City of Limoges, Limoges Metropolis du Department of Haute-Vienne and New Aquitaine region, the Lafarge Foot Avenir Tournament is more than a competition: it is a moment of sharing, emotion and discovery, which highlights the talents of tomorrow while promoting Limoges well beyond its borders.
Participating teams in 2025
Le Lafarge Foot Avenir 18 U2025 International Tournament brings together four of the most promising national teams in the world of football. These young talents, in the midst of preparing for major international competitions, will offer a sporting spectacle of the highest level.
Excellence at home
France
Four-time U18 European champions (1983, 1996, 1997, 2000), France is a world leader in youth development. A land of great talent, it has seen names like Paul Pogba, Ousmane Dembélé and Aurélien Tchouaméni pass through the tournament.
The passion for football
Portugal
Three-time U18 European champions (1961, 1994, 1999), Portugal is renowned for its technique and attacking style. Home to legends like Eusébio and Cristiano Ronaldo, its young players continue to impress on the international stage.
Rigor and speed
Japan
A rising power in Asian football, Japan has won the Asian Cup four times (1992, 2000, 2004, 2011). Their game combines discipline, speed, and team spirit, making them a formidable opponent.
The strength of the Gulf
Saudi Arabia
Three-time Asian champions (1984, 1988, 1996), Saudi Arabia is making its first appearance at the tournament. Its record and regular qualification for the World Cup are testament to its ambition on the international stage.

The format of the competition
Le Lafarge Foot Avenir U18 International Tournament takes place according to a simple and spectacular formula, ideal for providing suspense until the last match.
- 4 national teams in the running: France, Portugal, Japan and Saudi Arabia
- Championship format : each team faces all the others
- 6 matches in total, spread over 3 days (September 3, 5 and 7, 2025)
Duration and rules of the game
- Matches 2 x 45 minutes with a 15-minute halftime
- To 23 players by team, including 3 mandatory goalkeepers
- Official Rules of the FIFA applied
Points scale
- Victory in regulation time: 3 point
- Draw followed by penalty shootout: 2 points to the winner, 1 point to the loser
- Loss in regulation time: 0 points
This system guarantees tight rankings and matches with stakes from the first to the last whistle.
