The working of hides dates back to the XNUMXth century in Saint-Junien. The first craftsmen settled on the banks of the Vienne and this know-how is still very much present in the glove-making city since there are three glove factories, a belt and leather goods factory as well as an active tannery.

Every 2 years since 2013, Leather Doors bring together leather professionals from Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche, Nontron, Saint-Junien, Montbron, Haute-Vienne, Charente, Dordogne and the Périgord-Limousin Regional Natural Park.

In the “Cité du Gant de Cuir”, in Saint-Junien in Limousin, Joseph Pourrichou, director of Papeteries du Limousin, created the glove workshop for his son Lucien in 1937. Today the Lamb glove run by Sophie Grégoire has remained a family business for 3 generations.
