Limoges Porcelain was one of the first French manufactured products to have obtained this official sign. According to the law, a professional can only take advantage of the IG if he is a member of the ODG of the IG and registered on the official list of operators.

How to benefit?

Manufacturers and/or decorators must obtain individual certification with an accredited inspection body responsible for verifying compliance with the specifications, which guarantees transparency on the origin and manufacturing method of the products, in particular by ensuring the traceability of manufacturing operations.

Regularly updated, the list of officially certified operators can be consulted, as well as the specifications, on the INPI and association website. Certified operators have a registered and numbered certificate specifying the site and the activity concerned.

What are the issues ?

  • Promote and perpetuate know-how local craftsmen and industrialists. The GI participates in the revitalization of the territories, it is a real lever of economic development, which aims to preserve jobs and attract new players.
  • Protect products and fight against misuse of the designation. The GI is an intellectual property right recognized at the national level allowing to activate all the legal provisions of protection, it is also recognized at the international level.
  • Guarantee to consumers the origin of the products and the method of manufacture.
