Barometer of hotel activity 2021

The barometer of hotel activity, set up in collaboration with Limoges CCI, is established monthly by the MKG Consulting. Its analysis makes it possible to follow the evolution of the performance of the hotel industry on our Destination. After a complicated year in 2020, the tourism is back in 2021.

2021, year of recovery for the hotel industry in the urban community of Limoges

2021 in the occupancy rate (TO) global is established is 52,1% over the year, up 11,9 points compared to 2020 (OR 2020: 40,2%). It is the mid-range hotel sector that has recorded the best progress: +14,3 points from from 42,7% to 57,0%.

Regarding the progress of online reservations,  62% of reservations were conducted online in 2021, compared to less than 40% in 2019. In 2020, the pandemic had jump this rate beyond 70%.

In 2021, the overall TO of Limoges-Métropole once again exceeds that of the agglomerations of Pau (48,7%) or Poitiers (40,6%), but remains lower than that of the Bassin de Brive (54,0%).

Origin of customers

We observe a continuation of the erosion of foreign customers in 2021, with in particular a continuous decline in the share of British customers.

  1. France: 92,5% (92% in 2020, 90,1% in 2019)
  2. Belgium: 1,7% (1,5% in 2020, <0,5% in 2019)
  3. UK: 1,3% (2,1% in 2020 and 4,9% in 2019)
