This is the new gourmet address that offers locals and visitors a truly local culinary experience... With one of the prettiest views of Limoges facing its famous central Halles, the restaurant showcases two local Limousin specialties: flognarde and the clafoutis, recipes revisited in sweet and savory. Immerse yourself in the traditional flavors of the region and let yourself be seduced by this comforting cuisine in a charming setting.

Flognarde and clafoutis, the stars of the menu

On the menu, a varied selection of traditional Limousin dishes : these are of course flognarde and clafoutis which occupy a prominent place on the map. These two dishes are prepared with local ingredients and scrupulously respect traditional recipes, on a base of light flan dough.

Do you know these emblematic Limousin recipes?

Le clafoutis was born in Limousin, did you know? Our star delicacy is exclusively with cherries (whole with pits, let's be clear) mixed with a kind of light sweet pancake batter. For the record, Winston Churchill was crazy about his “clafoutis limousine”.

If it is made with other ingredients, it changes its name altogether and becomes a Flognarde ! A close cousin of clafoutis, it is made from seasonal fruits, such as apples, pears or others.

The result

A soft and fragrant dessert, ideal to end a meal in style. The contrast between the juicy fruit and the melting texture of the dough makes it a real delight for the taste buds.

Chez Francis – Flognarde & Clafoutis, we dare the salty version accompanied by a small salad if you wish. It's your turn compose your plates, in bites or squares of flognarde. We are of course on the concept of Limouzi-style tarterie !

Every day there is something for everyone. On site or to take away, the flognarde takes advantage of its freedom in terms of recipes to salt with for example ham, mushrooms, goat cheese, vegetables… or sweet with pear and almonds or chocolate praline. The recipes change regularly, also based on vegetable milk.

The team also offers flognardises, very gourmet bites to concoct a tasting plate, for the aperitif in mini and maxi bites: small ovens with vegetables, salmon, cream of chorizo... and on order with caviar and truffle (fresh in season ).

An exceptional setting in the heart of Limoges

In the distance, the pretty flamboyant red storefront – red like the cherries of the clafoutis ^^ – does not fail to attract the eye and by approaching a little closer, we appreciate the retro-chic and friendly look of this charming business. When you enter the Flognarde et Clafoutis restaurant, you will immediately be charmed by its warm atmosphere. The decoration showcases traditional elements of the Limousin region, with rustic touches and full of small references: apples, porcelain, local products...

High perched Place de la Motte, you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the famous central Halles from Limoges. In terrace, you will be able to enjoy a tasty meal while observing the effervescence of the “Ventre de Limoges”, soaking up the local atmosphere. From the shop window, also enjoy a charming view of the trompe-l'oeil façade of the square.

Who is behind the concept of revisited flognardes?

You had to dare to rub shoulders with these VIPs tastefully and typically from Limousin, Francis Morlaix did it! With the support of his partner, Laurence Verhaeghe and the pastry chef Fabrice Prunier, they chose to put back on the front of the stage these authentic dishes while bringing their own touch by developings new and original recipes.

But Francis is not at his first attempt... Located a few steps from Flognarde and Clafoutis, the Grocery of Les Halles is a must for lovers of local products and authentic gastronomy. This delicatessen offers a varied selection of products from the Limousin region and beyond, carefully chosen from passionate artisans.
