A language to decode, a gastronomy to explore, an underground life to uncover... What if you set off to discover a distant people, whose culture and traditions could be threatened by a modern way of life?
Recently, Philippe Caverivière and Amandine Bégot from the RTL morning show team did not hesitate... Let's go for the adventure in Limoges, like a program “Rendez-vous en terre stranger” in the heart of Limousin, there where GPS are as lost as the Parisians!

Welcome to a city hidden in the corners of France, but always ready to reveal its gems to conquer the hearts of extreme adventurers. The capital of Porcelain offers an intense travel experience with a touch of mystery, a pinch of laughter, and lots and lots of potato pie.

The Limougeauds: these friendly natives, experts in coded language

Meeting the limougeauds, ready to welcome you with a big smile and a little dose of mystery... If you hear someone say to you “Adi! Chabatz d’entrar“, don't panic, he doesn't practice witchcraft, it's just a very local way of welcoming you.

During your stay, if you go to the supermarket, use a “pouch” for a plastic bag. To quench your thirst, you will be asked to pass the “water pot” rather than a pitcher. And at the end of your trip, after buying lots of souvenir gifts, the crucial question will be whether all your belongings will fit.accommodation” in your suitcase? A language inspired by Limousin patois, to be decoded in a good mood.

To find the population as close as possible to its natural environment, we have several spots to suggest:

  • in places on all the terraces all summer, particularly in certain HQs: the local brewery Michard, the bar Duke Stephen an institution, the Café-bistro Le 1900 or to the Irish in the Cité district. Also to Central halls, the temple of all gourmet Limougeauds!
  • every Sunday in edges of vienna, or in other parks & gardens for a breath of fresh air in the city, but also in the heart of the limousine campaign to walk around
  • with Limoges Opera & and in their many museums to cultivate oneself, full of leisure sites for fun and on the occasion of festivals & major events throughout the year

Local gastronomy: a festival of flavors… for the most daring

Now let's get down to business... Alongside a good steak of Limousin beef, a block of black ass pig or a nice slice of Baronet lamb, we cannot resist the famous black pudding, even better with chestnuts. This VIP of local tripe has no shortage of competitors: girot, pig's trotters, veal ruffles, small bellies... without forgetting the famous sheep balls! The latter are even better when tasted with parsley on the occasion of The Spawning of Little Bellies. For the wisest, a good potato pâté garnished with a few salad leaves does the trick.

In sweetness, the clafoutis with these cherries (well pitted!) is an essential cake in the summer. If you go through the Butcher's quarter, you might take part in the Cherry Pit Spitting Contest. Then when winter approaches, the fruit is replaced by the famous Limousin apple and the dish becomes a flognarde. Other gourmet essentials for a snack: Madeleines, Limousin fondant, marzipan …Yum yum…

The famous Porcelain… white Gold as currency of exchange

La Limoges porcelain, it's the understated bling that turns heads locally. Since its discovery in the 18th century and over the years, it has made Limoges a hub of commerce and creativity. Of the craft workshops Asked big houses renowned, porcelain is a universal link for all Limougeauds. We challenge you to find a resident who doesn't have at least one pure white room, decorated or in oven blue in his home. And don't be surprised to see a local turn over his plate in a restaurant to check the origin of the precious ceramic and sometimes get offended if the emblem of a local factory does not appear on the back of the dish. Thus, in this city where each cup could tell a story, porcelain seals bonds, friendships and memories of an adventure in an unknown land.

A mysterious underground life… in the depths of the Limougeau arteries

Limoges reveals a mysterious world beneath its “gazette” pavers. Of galleries and cellars Hidden places offer refuge to curious urban explorers. Is the city's underground sometimes more lively than the most popular social network? In any case, it has surprises in store for those who dare to venture into the darkness.

The most curious reserve their place for visits to the Rule underground, the most gourmands do a tasting in the cellars of the Maison du fromage, while the most daring dance until the end of at night in the basements of Zic Zinc ...

SO ? Convinced ? There is only one thing left for you to do: Get rid of yourself!
Come and meet these proud people who fight to preserve their culture.
