Want to live a magical experience with family, friends or lovers? Discover from February 16 to March 3, 2024 at the Evêché garden in Limoges, the exhibition of giant lanterns of the Luminous Odyssey. A dreamlike stroll populated by mythical animals, sumptuous decorations and gigantic sculptures not to be missed.

A sparkling spectacle for the whole family

After Bordeaux then Paris, the enchanting world of The Luminous Odyssey organized by 1001 Lights made for the first time, a rural stopover in Limoges. From February 16 to 3 March 2024, the Botanical Garden of the Bishopric will put on its most beautiful clothes of light to take you through a succession of enchanted scenes mixing fantastic animals and endangered species. 

Celebrant ancestral Chinese art, this show is inspired by the Lantern festival which marks the end of the Chinese New Year. Imagine, 40 Chinese artisans worked for months to bring each light sculpture to life! The result ? A sparkling spectacle made up of 8 km of silk, 26 tonnes of metal and 25 LED bulbs. Embark with us on a journey with your head in the stars!

An educational and fun exhibition

The Luminous Odyssey is composed of 500 light sculptures of animals, chimerical creatures and settings inspired by different cultures. The exhibition is more than just a magical spectacle. Indeed, it also aims to raise awareness among walkers to endangered biodiversity through animals threatened with extinction. After entering through the giant dinosaur skeleton, visitors will be dazzled by an incredible variety of animals, from Malaysian tapirs and majestic tigers to the red panda and the giant Galapagos tortoise.

The animals come from the four corners of the globe, from the serpent of Egypt, symbol of perpetual evolution, to the sacred elephants of India, without forgetting the Day of the Dead in Mexico. To please the children, fantastic creatures such as golden dragon and unicorn will be there to amaze them! The highlight of the show will be the simulation northern lights, a breathtakingly fascinating natural phenomenon. And you don't even have to go to Norway to see them!

Schedules

The park is accessible freely all day until 17:30 p.m. when it closes completely for the exhibition. This will be held every evening from 18 p.m. to 22 p.m. at the Évéché Botanical Garden, with a online ticketing on Ticketmaster, we recommend that you purchase your tickets in advance to avoid waiting. A on-site ticketing will also be accessible on site from 18pm to buy your ticket for the same evening or future evenings. The exhibition can be visited freely during its opening hours, please plan on average 1h10 for contemplate the different worlds of the park. Entrance will only be from the side of the main entrance to the cathedral, with two lines (with ticket/without ticket).

Public toilets will be accessible at 2 locations in the park: 19 boulevard de la banderie at the corderie car park, 1 place de l’Evêché opposite the large basin of the évêché

Dogs will be prohibited within the park. Only blind people can be accompanied by their guide dog.

Is there catering available on site?

A stand with snacks will be open. On the menu: hot dogs, fries, churros…

Is the park accessible to PRMs?

The park is completely accessible to PRMs.

Can I visit the park without a ticket?

The park will be privatized for the event from 18 p.m. to 22 p.m. During this period, it will only be accessible upon presentation of the ticket. During the day, the park will be freely accessible during the day until 17:30 p.m.

Will the Terra Aventura “Belle de nuit” and “Connect Email” courses be accessible?

The two routes "Beauty of the night" andLogin Email” remain accessible during the day until 17:30 p.m. During the event, adventurers must plan to complete the route before 17:30 p.m., when the park closes.

Discover the historic districts of Limoges

You're not local? And if you took the opportunity to visit the must-sees of Limoges ? At the heart of city ​​district or by its other name the lower town, with the St. Stephen's Cathedral as a backdrop, it's the ideal place for a luminous adventure! Who says Limoges, says walk along the banks of Vienne passing through the medieval bridge St Etienne. After shining brightly, why not dive into history at Museum of Fine Arts ? And for a touch of exoticism, go and discover the exhibition on ancient Egypt “A life in Egypt” presenting unpublished works from the Louvre in particular. A perfect mix between light, art and discoveries. 

After the lower town, the upper town awaits you! We no longer recommend the butcher's quarter why not through one of our guided tours ou the Central Halls that will make you salivate with all the limousine specialties. Between two discoveries, take a break craft shopping in the pedestrian shopping streets: rue du clocher, rue du consulat, rue du temple and rue Jean Jaurès. And since we're in the area, take a look at the Adrien Dubouché museum, where the Porcelain is celebrated. It's still the porcelain museum the largest in Europe ! You have plenty to do!
